Beach always means happy times and good sunshine. It means refreshing cocktails, water sports, friends, family or why not me and my favorite book. The world is full of marvelous spots you have not seen yet but WOW Travel put together for you a list of 10 most unique beaches on earth.

The 155-island country, whose capital is Victoria, lies 1,500 kilometres east of mainland Southeast Africa and it’s the most popular spot for shooting movies and documentaries by National Geographic and other film makers in recent years.

10. Palm Islands, Dubai – The best artificial beach in the world – The Palm Islands are two artificial islands, Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali, on the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Palm Jumeirah takes the form of a palm tree, topped by a crescent. The islands are hosts to a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment centres and will add a total of 520 kilometres of non-public beaches to the city of Dubai.

Paris & the Heart of Normandy
Combine the magic of Paris with the beauty of France’s Norman countryside and voilà! Experience history firsthand at the Normandy beaches, site of the famous Allied invasion on D-Day in 1944. Delight in the Gothic architecture of Rouen, and see where Joan of Arc was tried and executed. Lose yourself in the exquisite gardens of Giverny, whose rich palette inspired Impressionist Claude Monet for many years. Walk the cobblestone streets of provincial Vernon and share the
splendor of Paris, the world’s most romantic city, with your companion. This fascinating 8-day journey has something for everyone.

Day 1 | Paris, France
Arrive in Paris, romance capital of the world. Transfer from the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris to your ship.* After boarding, take free time to explore Paris, or join our “welcome walk” to stretch your legs and get oriented. (D)

Day 2 | Paris, France
Wake up to a full day in Paris. After breakfast, embark on a half-day tour of this dazzling city and take in its most remarkable sights, including the iconic Eiffel Tower. You’ll also see the École Militaire, Orsay Museum and Latin Quarter and the magnificent Cathedral of Notre Dame. Then we’ll drive past the Louvre and Opera House and along the famed Champs-Élysées. Return aboard for lunch. This afternoon you’re free to take in the Louvre, shop the fashionable boutiques, visit the artists’ district of Montmartre or enjoy a cruise along the Seine. As always, your Program Director can help you plan your free time. Dinner is served aboard your ship. (B, L, D)

Day 3 | Giverny & Vernon, France
Arrive in Vernon before breakfast; take a short ride into the town of Giverny, where Claude Monet resided from 1883 until his death in 1926. Visit the beautiful gardens and charming stone farmhouse where he lived and worked; see the water garden with the recognizable Japanese bridge, water lilies, wisteria and azaleas that inspired many of his masterpieces.
After lunch, spend some time with your Program Director in the provincial town of Vernon. Take a stroll to see the Maison du Temps Jadis (House of Past Times), Vernon’s oldest house, and the 11th-century Church of Notre Dame. Dinner is served aboard. (B, L, D)
Monet garden not available before April 1 or after November 1; a visit to the village of Auvers-sur-Oise, favored by Van Gogh and other artists, will be substituted.

Day 4 | Rouen, France
Indulge in leisurely morning cruising along the Seine. You’ll spend the afternoon in the medieval city of Rouen, preeminent capital of Normandy. Begin with a walking tour through the center of Old Town, where you see the spectacular Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral, often painted by Claude Monet, and the famous Gros Horloge, a 16th-century astronomical clock. As you walk among the half-timbered storybook buildings, you’ll feel transported back through time; see the 14th-century courthouse where Joan of Arc was sentenced to death and the nearby Market Square where she was martyred.
Take free time to discover more of Rouen or visit one of its museums of art or antiquities. Dine aboard or at a sidewalk café. Your ship remains docked overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 5 | Normandy Beaches, France
After breakfast, begin your full-day tour to the historic beaches of Normandy. Drive past Gold Beach, Courseulles sur Mer and Juno Beach on your way to visit such World War II landmarks as Omaha Beach, the American Military Cemetery and Arromanches Debarkment D-Day Museum. Have dinner and relax aboard your ship or take an evening stroll. (B, L, D)

Day 6 | Les Andelys & Conflans, France
Enjoy a leisurely morning cruise to the small town of Les Andelys, known for its imposing castle, Château Gaillard, built in 1196 by Richard the Lionheart. After lunch, join a guided walk to this fatally flawed masterpiece of Middle Ages architecture. Return aboard for scenic cruising and dinner. Late in the evening we dock in Conflans, a riverside town whose unique culture reflects its status as a local hub for barge transportation along the Seine and its tributaries. (B, L, D)

Day 7 | Conflans & Paris, France
After breakfast, set out on a walking tour through the charming neighborhoods of Conflans. Or, join an optional tour to the luxurious Palace of Versailles, former home of Louis XIV. Lunch aboard your ship as you sail back to Paris this afternoon. Dine aboard and then enjoy some free time in the “City of Light.” (B, L, D)

Day 8 | Paris, France
After breakfast, disembark and proceed to the Paris airport for your return flight.* Or, extend your time in France’s romantic capital with a 3-night Paris extension. (B)

Amazing Palm Island Resort, the Grenadines

Starting with a short flight on a twin engine propeller plane and then a short trip by boat from Union Island to Palm Island, Palm Island is everything I imagined it would be.

Upon arriving at the Resort, you are greeted by the General Manager and her staff. You are taken to your room and given a brief summary of Palm Island Resort. We arrived late, they told us not to bother checking in until the following day.

The Resort has two restaurants, the Royal Palm and the Sunset. The food at both restaurants was fabulous. I really can’t say that enough. We did not use the bar service much, but everyone was friendly. Many of the restaurant staff knew our names before the week was up.

We stayed at the Plantation Rooms. They are nicely decorated and very spacious. It had  two double beds, a seating area with a love seat and two chairs. The bathroom was large as well with a huge shower with two shower heads. There are no T.V’s in the room or internet. They do have a T.V. and internet cafe to use. Internet was also available in the lobby.

 But the greatest thing about Palm Island Resort is the island itself. Beautiful beaches, and scenery. They provide bikes to explore the island. There are a number of hills you can hike up and see breath taking views of Palm Island and the surrounding islands. Palm Island is full of animal life including iguana, lizards, hermit crabs, stone crabs, and numerous species of birds.

9 Beaches with Crystal Clear Water

These beaches are beautiful. I have been to Aitutaki, Cook Islands and I must say the view from the air is one of the most amazing things I have seen on this Earth. If your a beach nut like I am these beaches are a must for your bucket list.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

 

                                                         I just got back from the Majestic Colonial Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The resort grounds were beautiful. Plenty of blooming flowers and palm trees abound. The hotel lobby was impressive. It had two check in areas, one for the Colonial and a separate check in for Colonial Club guests.

We stayed at the Colonial Club. The rooms are large and nicely decorated. The only draw back to our room was the cleanliness. The room had numerous issues that the resort did not address.

They had a number of weddings taking place each day with a nice gazebo on the beach. They also had a place for private dining for wedding guests along with an area for the reception in the evening featuring a DJ and entertainment.

There were a number of great people working at the resort. Juan and Maria at the beach bar were great, along with Juan in the Mexican Restaurant and Oney in the lunch grill near the beach.

Food was not the greatest, many times at the buffet, the food was no more than room temperature.

Would we return? Chances are we will choose another resort next year because of our room cleanliness and the food.

Punta Cana Travel Tips
• Upon arrival at the Punta Cana Airport, you will need to purchase a $10 per person tourist card. Please have the correct amount in U.S. dollars ready.
• There are casino’s in Punta Cana, avoid Caribbean Keno. It is a scam.
• Make sure your passport is good for at least 6 months past the date of your return.
• Make copies of the information page of your passport. Keep one at home where someone could retrieve it for you (or mail it to me). Keep another copy in your suitcase separate from your passport. Always keep your passport locked in the room safe when not in use.
• Take plenty of sunscreen with you. It is very expensive to purchase at the resort.
• Take plenty of $1’s and $5’s. Tipping is included in most packages, however the hotel staff works for very little money and a small tip goes a long way.
• Don’t drink the tap water in your room. Bottled water is provided.
• You may want to take bug spray. Sometimes in the evenings the mosquitoes can be out.
• Purchase a cheap blow up raft to take with you. They are fun to play with in the ocean or pool. On your last day find someone you can give it to!
• Take an insulated mug with you. The bartenders will fill it with your favorite beverage and it will stay cold a lot longer.
• No need to take beach towels. The hotel will provide them.
• Call your credit card company to let them know you will be traveling out of the country. Otherwise your card could be cut off.
• No need to change your U.S. dollars, they are widely accepted in Punta Cana.
• Check your cell phone provider to see if they have a temporary plan you can switch to for the month to make your calling and texting less expensive.
• Don’t book tours with the people on the beach. Most likely they are not bonded or insured, and it could be a scam.
Use common sense while traveling.
